What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain-text file placed at a website root that gives AI crawlers a curated map of the site: the most important pages with one-line descriptions. It helps large language models find and cite the canonical answers quickly, much as robots.txt and sitemap.xml guide traditional search crawlers.
As AI engines crawl the web to build answers, an llms.txt file points them at what matters and how to describe it, reducing the chance they miss key pages or summarise them wrongly. An optional llms-full.txt can carry expanded summaries of flagship pages.
